Jonathan Cooper, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Dr. Cooper is a native of New Jersey who received his undergraduate education at Union College in Schenectady, NY. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Computer Science. He received his medical degree from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY and graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Cooper completed his general surgery internship and his residency in the Department of Otolaryngology, both at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He opened his ENT practice in Broward County in 1992 and currently treats both adults and children at his offices in Pembroke Pines and Weston.

Dr. Cooper has served in the past as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Memorial Hospital West and remains active working with the medical staff. He has also been a voluntary Clinical Instructor at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He has had papers published in peer reviewed journals covering topics ranging from cancer of the larynx to sinus disease.

Dr. Cooper was the first full time otolaryngologist in Weston and is a founding member of South Florida ENT Associates, P.A. and is currently the President and Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the Florida Network of Otolaryngologists.

David Jassir, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery with additional training as a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA)

Dr. Jassir began his career in 1991 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his 1 year Internship in General Surgery as well as his 4 year Residency in Otolaryngology.

Sabine Hesse, M.D., F.A.C.S.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Having grown up on San Diego, California, Dr. Hesse received her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of California, San Diego. She then graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine with honors in 1996. She has been a member of the Alpha Omega honor society since 1995.

She went on to complete her surgical internship an otolaryngology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Hesse has been Board Certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery since 2001 and has been practicing in South Florida since 2001.

In addition to General adult and pediatric ENT, Dr. Hesse specializes in head and neck cancer surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, pediatric and adult airway surgery including sleep apnea.

Sherry Levine, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Dr. Levine received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Sociology from Brandeis University in 2002. She then received her medical degree from New York Medical College. During Dr. Levine’s medical education, she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her General Surgery internship and residency training in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Levine is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and her practice consists of General Otolaryngology, including the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the ears, nose, throat, larynx, head and neck. She sees both pediatric and adult patients.

Dr. Levine utilizes the latest treatments, technology and recovery for her patients. When necessary, she uses minimally invasive medical options, and many procedures are performed right in the office.

Travis L. Lewis, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Dr. Lewis was born and raised in London, KY. He attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington on a full-tuition academic scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine where he graduated in the top 5 of his class with Highest Honors and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Texas – Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.

During his time at UTSW, Dr. Lewis trained at two of the largest county hospitals in the country, Parkland in Dallas and John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, the second largest VA hospital in America, Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. As such, he obtained extensive training in a variety of ENT conditions including head/neck cancer, hearing loss and ear pathology, sinus disease, pediatric infections, neck masses, sleep medicine, facial trauma and voice conditions. During residency he published research examining weight changes in children following tonsillectomy for which he won the junior resident research award in his department. This research was also presented at the national Academy of Otolaryngology meeting where it was selected as one of the Top 10 abstracts submitted amongst hundreds for presentation in 2014.

In his spare time Dr. Lewis likes to run, work out, attend sporting events, and be outdoors near the water. He is excited to call south Florida home and looks forward to providing patients with an enjoyable patient-centered experience during their visits to SFENTA.

Daniel Morse, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Dr. Daniel Morse was raised in Maryland and received his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1982. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his Medical Degree in from UHS/Chicago Medical School in 1986. Dr. Morse completed his surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago in 1991. He has been in private practice in South Florida since 1991 and has been a practicing ENT physician in Pembroke Pines since 1992.

His ENT practice consists of all aspects of general adult and pediatric otolaryngology, as well as endoscopic sinus procedures, hearing loss, sleep disorders and thyroid, parathyroid and parotid surgery. He specializes in the treatment of chronic sinusitis. Dr. Morse was one of the first physicians in South Florida to perform in-office Balloon Sinuplasty for the treatment of chronic sinusitis.

Dr. Morse currently holds professional affiliations with:

Mark Sukenik, M.D.
ENT Physician
Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Board certified in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, Dr. Sukenik began his career in 1988 after receiving his Bachelor of Science and graduating Cum Laude from Brandeis University in Waltham Massachusetts. He then went on to Emory University of Medicine in Atlanta Georgia, where he obtained his Medical Degree. Dr. Sukenik completed his one year internship in General Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine and completing his four year residency in Otolaryngology.

Adam Weisstuch, M.D.
ENT Physician
Dr. Weisstuch is Board Certified in Otolaryngology with additional training as a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA)

A native of New York, Dr. Weisstuch received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Yeshiva University where he was awarded Magna Cum Laude. He then pursued his Doctorate of Medicine at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine where he was a member of the Honors Program. After completing medical school, Dr. Weisstuch then completed his surgical internship, Otolaryngology residency and Chief Residency at Albany Medical College where he was trained by leaders in the field in the most advanced and innovative medical and surgical techniques.

Dr. Weisstuch has been an invited speaker on the local, regional and national levels and was presented with a speaking award by the New England Otolaryngology Society. He has been an author of multiple medical articles as well as a book chapter within the field of Otolaryngology and was awarded a resident leadership grant from the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery for his work during his training.

Our Hearing Specialists


Aina Calimano, AuD., MPH

Dr. Aina Calimano was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from University of Puerto Rico. She continued on to obtain her Master’s degree in Public Health with a minor of Epidemiology from the Public Health School, University of Puerto Rico. In 2012 she completed her Doctoral degree in Audiology from University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus, where she was awarded Magna Cum Laude. 

Dr. Calimano moved to South Florida in 2011 and worked as an intern in South Florida ENT Associates in Miami. Since then, she has been working as a clinical audiologist with South Florida ENT Associates, conducting hearing and balance assessments and dispensing hearing aids. 

Dr. Calimano has been an author of multiple audiology and public health articles. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

James Bernath HAS, BC-HIS
Hearing Aid Specialist, Board Certified – Hearing Instrument Specialist

James Bernath was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and has been a resident of South Florida since 1994.

James is a Nationally Board Certified Hearing Instruments Specialist who graduated from both Sheridan and Spokane Falls Community Colleges specializing in Hearing Instrument Sciences. James was exposed at an early age to the needs of the hearing impaired at his family’s Hearing Aid Practice. Both he and his sister went on to become second generation Hearing Instrument Practitioners who develop successful careers assisting the hearing impaired by focusing on patient care and advocacy.

Since 1999 James has been actively providing diagnostic services and dispensing hearing aids with Dr. Daniel Morse and later as member of South Florida ENT's Allied Professionals in the Pembroke Pines location. In addition to his 32 + years of experience, James is a Hearing Aid user himself. He is able to share his expertise as a professional, and as a Hearing Aid user. The two combined give James an added advantage over most.

James continues to demonstrate his expertise in fitting state of the art Digital Hearing Aids and Assistive Listening Devices. Continuing education allows him to stay current with the latest hearing aid technologies; which in turn is passed along to our valued patients

In addition to serving as the past President of the Association of Hearing Instrument Practitioners of Ontario, James currently holds memberships with the following professional associations

Christy Penharlow, H.A.S.
Hearing Aid Specialist

A resident of South Florida, Christy joined South Florida ENT as an Audiologist Assistant in 2012. Her experiences working with the hearing impaired compelled her to complete her training as a Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist in order to better serve her patients. In addition to being licensed in the state of Florida, Christy holds membership with the following associations:

  • Florida Society of Hearing Healthcare Professionals
  • International Hearing Society

Providing compassionate care with integrity is the goal which drives Christy to provide the best service to her patients. Listening with sincerity, product knowledge, and a gentle manor are her keys to guide the patient through the process resulting a successful hearing aid fitting.

Ongoing continuing education allows Christy the ability to best meet the needs of her patients by keeping her updated on the latest hearing aid technologies and accessories. Quality compassionate care to the hearing impaired and the commitment to providing the best possible patient care is her intent.

Christy moved to South Florida in 2005 from Dallas, Texas. She is married to her best friend Darrin, proud mom of son Daniel and has two dogs named Tater and Skrappy. In her free time Christy enjoys the wonderful life that south Florida has to offer. She and her husband Darrin are active divers who explore many of the fine reefs in our area.
